There are drugs on the Internet!!!

I can see their effects on people, but I'm not sure if I should be taking them or not...

Until I determine the cost and long-term impact, not to mention a source, I'll just have to wonder...

A well-respect SEO person who has written quite a bit on SEO and who has at least one book just announced that the next big thing is "User-determined relevancy". Now that everyone is figuring out that link popularity is mostly a crock, we are shifting to letting user activity decide what is important.

This mis-guided revelation stems from the fact that Exactseek.com is starting to include traffic ranking numbers from Alexa.com. This earth-shattering idea is that since Alexa.com tracks user activity via it's famous (and recommended) toolbar, they can tell who's hot and how's not.

Sound's great right? But there is a problem. Just as people discovered that links had value and started a feeding frenzy, the same will be true with people surfing enmass to sites they want to give a boost too in the rankings....

Been there, done that. So what's next that we can manipulate are ruin...?
