It seems that a site that I have long admired is now being a little reasonable. seoconsultants.com has just issued a message stating that they feel it is not appropriate for SEO consultants to have Google AdSense advertising on our sites.
It is true that some of the ads do promote SEO services that are what I would consider less than professional, but that is not under my control, and visitors should have the option to choose from whatever ads, be they rip-offs or some of the largest SEO firms in the world if they choose to do so. I figure if they check out those bad sites, it will make us look better. If they look at another professional site, well let's just say I have no fear of any other SEO firm...
It's one thing to promote good practices and standards, it's another to attack the First Amendment...
Here is the message that I just received:
Good day SEO Consultants Directory members. It has come to our attention that some of you may be running Google AdSense on your primary SEO/SEM pages. Unfortunately the ads being served from AdSense may be in violation of items #7 and #17 of our Submission Guidelines.
We will be making directory sweeps over the next 30-90 days at which time anyone running AdSense on SEO/SEM pages will be removed from our directory. Many of the companies that have not been approved for a listing in our directory may be part of the AdSense network. This puts you in clear violation of items #7 and #17 of our Submission Guidelines.
Also, for those of you who have failed to heed our prior notices on keeping your Consultants Profiles up to date, we will be removing those members who have not updated their profile in the last 120 days. We will be installing a new feature which will automatically remove your listing if there is a 120 day lapse in Profile Updates. This insures that your listing remains fresh and tells us that you are still alive and have an interest in maintaining your listing with the directory.
There will be no further notices sent when it comes to removing members who are in violation of the above issues. Our Editors will be reviewing sites periodically over the next 30-90 days and will remove members without notice if they find AdSense and/or no profile update in the past 120 days.
Thanks to everyone who continues to support the directory. For those of you celebrating the holidays, we wish you a safe and Happy Holiday!

And here is my reply:
Dear Mr. Lewis,
If you insist that you must follow this policy on Google AdSense, then you may remove my listing at once.
I appreciate the listing that was provided and wish you the best of luck in the future.
