HUMAN CAT BORN

Gerta, Latvia(DE) - A freak of nature occurred when a fourteen year old cat gave birth to a kitten with a human face. Stunned pet owners, Harold and Marge Olickspe, found the human kitten just hours after it was born. "I was doing my morning chores when I saw the creature, I screamed for Marge to come and look at it," Harold said. The couple, who could never have children of their own, consider this a miracle from God and are planning to raise the human kitten. "We have already started a college fund for our little George," Marge stated proudly.

VeriSign Reconsiders Search Service

Why am I not surprised...? Because this company has always shown a real adversion to facing reality, and with as much money as there is at stake, who could blame them...?

What they don't get is that they are digging the hole they are in deeper and deeper. To me, they are nearing Microsoft in acting like evil incarnate. As they do this, they cause more and more people to comment and work against them. Time to drag out the protest signs and dust them off again....

Boycott Verisign.

Domain Registry of America is at it again!

Domain transfer scam

They are still sending out direct mail pieces that appear to be domain name renewals, but are also in fact a TRANSFER AUTHORIZATION scam!

If you don't read the mail they send you closely, then it's easy to miss the fact that it does say you agree to let them transfer the domain to them, and pay $20 a year for the privlige!

Heck, I thought $15 was a little expensive these days for a domain registration.

One of our clients sent them a check, but the transfer confirmation came to my email and I was able to prevent it from happening. If your registrar offers domain locking, please use it.

Here's a quick tip when working with email / spam mesages:

Sometimes you want to see if the message is real or spam, but you don't want to open it, since it could load a graphic file that will confirm your address is active, or it may launch some kind of nasty web page in your browser.

If you use Outlook, you can right-click on the email and select "options".

You can then view the email message header and this should help you determine if it's something you want to open or not.

Here's an interesting site to check out: www.detroitdating.us

Try replacing the www with any search term you want and see what you get, like with this:
http://mp3.detroitdating.us/

Yes, the subdomain is turned into a search term and you get to see the results returned.

Did you see where the results are from? Is this a good use of someone's advertising dollars...?

[Update: I have changed the links to this site so they are not "live". When I checked the site it was down and no longer active....]

Not getting good results with your PPC program? One reason may be with sites that pay people to click and commit click fraud like this one does. They also encourage lead fraud and survey fraud and anything where people are paying to get information or customers.

It's sites like this that are going to keep hurting PPC systems. The problem is huge because the money is, and no one seems to want to say very much about it...

Ok, no search engine stuff today...

I have one fun littke Umbro to weedle you with: PT Distorter

Go to this page and don't even read the page at first. Just find the little form and enter in a URL to a site. I would start with a site like... yours, if you have one. Take a look at what this little time waster will do to it. I used it on my site and I almost laughed out loud at some of what it came up with...

Now, how about some commentary?

I watched the first half of the Superbowl and this is what I noticed:

1) Most of the first half was boring. Punt, punt, punt...

2) Most (not all) of the commercials were boring. Yawn, Yawn, huh?, yawn...

3) I missed the half time show, but aside from damaging a couple of careers and stiring up the FCC, was the show really so boring that it needed to be spiced up? Yawn.

4) Was I the only one that noticed all the CBS promos for their own shows during half #1? I haven't asked about half #2, but my feeling was that it confirmed how way over priced it has gotten and CBS lost the chance to make a lot more money, even if it was only a few thousand dollars a second... Why push your #1 show during the most expensive ad time of the year...? IT'S ALREADY #1...!!!???

5) What was five...? Oh yeah. Maybe y'all knew this, but I figured out this year that only loser companies run normal commercials during the Superbowel (sic). Why would you run an average commercial during a time when everone is expecting the best, or at least the unusual during the game?

If your ad is remembered, it will be becuase it was so lame next to the others. So, ok there is less contrast this year... but still.

I think there should be less cost for the air time, and they should have a contest to complete for the right to entertain and sell 1 billion people. I think we deserve the ad biz's best, don't you?
